Manual Export
Learn how to manually export your health data from HealthyApps.
Last updated: October 31, 2026
On this page
Use Manual Export to export multiple data types at once.
Open Export → Manual Export on iPhone, Export → Manual Export in the iPad sidebar, or Export in the Mac sidebar. Choose your date range, format, and data types, then select Export.
On Mac, first sync your data from your iPhone. If files are still downloading, choose Wait for Downloads or Export Available Data. After saving, check the Export Report for skipped dates or workouts.
While an export is running
On iPhone and iPad, keep the app open and your device unlocked until the export finishes. You can move between screens within the app, but leaving the app cancels the export. Reopen Manual Export to check progress or share completed files.
On Mac, you can move to another screen or close the export sheet. Select Open Export at the bottom of the sidebar to return.
Select Cancel to stop an export.
Configuration
Date Range
Choose a preset or Custom and set the start and end dates. The end date includes readings through the end of that day.
Export Format
- CSV for spreadsheets.
- JSON for structured data and integrations.
- Markdown for readable notes and archives.
See the JSON and Markdown references for file contents.
Export Version
Use Version 2 for the current structure. Choose Version 1 if an existing workflow requires the older format.
Health Metrics
Enable Export Health Metrics, then use Select Health Metrics to choose the measurements you need.
On iPhone and iPad, Manual Export uses the shared source preferences. Each automation has separate source choices.
Time Grouping
Choose how readings are grouped, such as by hour or day. Finer groups create more detailed exports and can increase file size and processing time.
Summarize Data
Turn Summarize Data on to combine readings into each time group, or off for individual readings where available. The summary uses the metric’s total, average, or other supported summary. See Health Metrics for metric-specific fields and daily sleep summaries.
CSV exports always summarize data when multiple health metrics are selected.
Workouts
Enable Export Workouts and use Select Workouts to choose the workout types.
Include GPX Routes
Turn on Include GPX Routes to include available route points in JSON workout data and create a GPX file for each available route. Turn it off to exclude routes. GPX files can be used in mapping or fitness apps.
Include Workout Metrics
Turn on Include Workout Metrics to add selected readings such as heart rate, active energy, and steps. These readings can increase export size and processing time.
Time Grouping (Workout Metrics)
For Version 2 workout metrics, choose Minutes or Seconds. See Workout Metrics Time Grouping for boundary behavior and included readings.
Single workout (workout detail)
- Open Browse → Workouts and select a workout. Use the filters or Load More to find older workouts.
- Under Configure, choose the format, version, and workout-metric time grouping. Enable Include GPX Routes if needed.
- Select Export, then choose where to save or share the files.
On Mac, choose Export from the Workouts list, select your date range and export options, then choose Save and a file name and location. The export includes all matching synced workouts, including those not currently shown in the list.
Other data types
On iPhone and iPad, enable the data types you want to include. Use the selection controls to choose specific symptoms where available.
| Data type | Reference |
|---|---|
| Symptoms | Symptoms |
| Cycle Tracking | Cycle Tracking |
| Medications (iOS 26+) | Medications |
| State of Mind (iOS 18+) | State of Mind |
| ECG | ECG |
| Heart Rate Notifications | Heart Rate Notifications |
Mac exports use synced health metrics and workouts.
Apple Health authorization errors
If an export reports missing access, follow Data Missing in Export Files to check permissions. Medication access is granted separately for each medication.
Run Export
Select Export to create the files:
- JSON: One file containing the selected data types.
- CSV: Separate files for each data type, with additional workout-metric files when selected.
- Markdown: A document for each selected data type that has data.
Available GPX routes are separate files when enabled.
Sharing Export Files
On iPhone and iPad, share completed exports using AirDrop or another app. Multiple files are combined into a ZIP.
On Mac, choose a file name and location in the Save dialog. Exports that can produce multiple files are saved as a ZIP.
Export History
Open History at the bottom of Manual Export, or use Export History beside the form on wider screens. Select a saved export to view or share it.
Delete an entry to remove its saved file, or choose Clear All to remove all saved exports. Copies saved to Files or another app must be deleted there separately.
Large exports
If an export takes too long or fails, shorten the date range, select fewer data types, or use coarser time grouping. Disable detailed workout metrics or routes when you do not need them.
