Troubleshooting Guide
Automation Issues
Automation shows "Enabled" but never runs
Checklist:
- Background App Refresh is enabled for the app
- Low Power Mode is OFF
- Your phone is unlocked at least occasionally
- You have at least one widget or manual trigger available
Try:
- Adding the Automations Widget to your Home Screen
- Triggering the automation manually once
- Waiting a few hours after unlocking the device
⸻
Data appears late or at unexpected times
This is normal behavior under iOS.
Automations run when:
- The system allows background execution
- The device is unlocked
- Resources are available
The configured cadence is a hint, not a guarantee.
⸻
Files not appearing in cloud storage
First check:
- The automation is enabled
- The account is connected (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud)
- The automation has run at least once
Then:
- Check Activity Logs inside the automation
- Try a manual export to confirm connectivity
- Verify available cloud storage space
⸻
Widget Issues
Widget shows outdated status
Widgets refresh on an iOS-controlled schedule.
If the widget looks stale:
- Tap the widget to trigger a refresh
- Unlock the phone and wait a few minutes
- Remove and re-add the widget if needed
⸻
Export Issues
Medication exports missing data
Medication permissions are handled differently by Apple.
Each medication must explicitly allow access:
- Open Apple Health
- Go to Medications
- Tap a medication
- Open Data Sources & Access
- Enable Health Auto Export
If Health Auto Export doesn't appear:
- Reinstall the app
- Complete onboarding again
- Re-grant Health permissions when prompted
⸻
REST API / webhook not receiving data
Common issues:
- Invalid or unreachable URL
- Endpoint doesn't accept POST requests
- Missing or incorrect authentication headers
- Timeout too short
What to do:
- Test with a service like webhook.site
- Increase request timeout
- Check Activity Logs for HTTP status codes
⸻
Sync Issues
Sync to Mac not updating
Check:
- Same iCloud account on both devices
- iCloud Drive enabled
- Sync to Mac enabled in the app
- Premium subscription active
If needed:
- Run a manual sync for a small date range
- Wait a few minutes for iCloud propagation
⸻
Getting Help
When to Contact Support
Reach out to support if:
- You've verified permissions and settings
- You can reproduce the issue consistently
- Activity Logs show errors you don't understand
When contacting support, include:
- Screenshots of your automation configuration
- Activity Logs
- Export type and date range
- iOS version and device model
⸻
Final Note
Most "sync issues" are the result of iOS system limitations, not misconfiguration or data loss. Once permissions are correct and expectations are aligned, Health Auto Export is highly reliable for long-term syncing and backups.
